Congratulations Josh Meyer, Patriot Award Recipient! Assistant Recreation Division Manager Josh Meyer was recently presented the Patriot Award by the Department of Defense. Josh was nominated for the award by Roger Pleus, an umpire he supervises at the Shawnee Park Sports Complex. The Patriot Award recognizes employers for contributing to our National Security and the protection of liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s Reserve Forces. In his comments about Josh, Roger said he felt a “true sense of leadership” when he met Josh and watched the way he interacts with employees and citizens. Josh was nominated due to his commitment, understanding and support of the needs of an employee that is a member of the Reserve Force. According to the Department of Defense, “The Reserve deploys in support of designated missions as needed and it is of extreme importance to the nation that we have understanding flexible employers, supervisors and co-workers such as Josh Meyer”.
