Manifolds on Main Street Manifolds on Main Street

On Sunday September 19, the River City Rodders Car Club in conjunction with Old Town Cape will be hosting the Manifolds on Main Street car show. This year’s show, which will be the Rodders’ 43rd annual, will once again be held in historic Downtown Cape. Vehicles will be displayed along Main St and in the downtown parking lot across from Hutson Furniture. The major sponsors for this year’s show will be NAPA Auto Tire & Parts, Auto Trim Design, Cape Radiology Group, Century Casino, Heise Heating & Cooling and Plaza Tire Service.
Over 250 cars and trucks are expected this year, with several traveling from as far away as St. Louis and Memphis. Trophies will be awarded in twenty-nine classes, with classes available for most vehicles from 1900 through 2021. In addition to the class trophies, special trophies will be awarded for Rodder’s Choice and Old Town Cape’s Choice. The registration fee for participating vehicles will be $15. A sound system will be on hand playing oldies all day and attendance prizes will be given away to the first 150 participants to register. Registration begins at 8:00 with judging scheduled to begin at noon. Trophies and other awards will be given out at 3:00. As in the past, there will no attendance charge for the general public. Event t-shirts will be on sale for $20. Additional information regarding registration and classes can be obtained by contacting Rick Horrell at rhorrell@sdfreight.us.
The Rodders’ car show is an annual fall tradition for area car buffs and for many years was held in Capaha Park. To take advantage of the development that has recently occurred in Downtown Cape and in the interest of promoting our historic downtown area, the Rodders joined forces with Old Town Cape in 2007 to move their show to Downtown Cape. In the interest of showcasing our downtown attractions the Glenn House will be open from 10am to 4pm for tours and exhibits inside the house and a Victorian social outside. The Red House and Old St. Vincent’s Church will also be open from 1pm to 4pm to welcome visitors for tours.
The Rodders along with Old Town Cape would like to encourage everyone in the area to bring their families down to join in the fun. With several downtown restaurants and shops scheduled to be open the day of the show, it should be a great opportunity to bring the family down for lunch, do a little shopping, check out the car show, visit some downtown attractions and just have a fun day in general.
