City of Cape Girardeau The 37th Annual Friends of the P…
The 37th Annual Friends of the Parks Day was a great success! On Earth Day, our Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation staff and volunteers picked up trash and planted trees at 14 of our 25 parks. Brock Davis discusses the importance of this day and how it helps our city. Thank you to the 300+ volunteers including all of the friends, families, and neighbors, and others! Missouri Dept. of Conservation team was Bashin' Trash along Cape LaCroix Creek Trail, staff worked in City Hall & Iver's Square, and many others volunteered including Red House Interpretive Center, Cape Jaycees, Cape Central High School Beta Club and the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. Did we miss you? Tag your team in the comments! Want to stay involved in the Great Cape Clean Up? Anyone is welcome to organize a clean up effort or share clean ups planned across the community. Check-out Keep Our Community Clean, Nextdoor, and other places to find and organize cleanups! April 26 - Old Town Cape, Inc.'s Spring Litter Pick-Up You're invited to join Old Town Cape, their Design Committee, and The Cleaning Co. to help pick up litter in our downtown! They will meet at the Boardman Pavilion (in the Hutson Lot) at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26 if you want to help them do some spring cleaning! MoDOT Southeast District Says No MOre Trash! Now is the perfect time to pitch in to pick up Missouri’s roadsides! Whether you would like to participate in MoDOT’s Adopt-a-Highway program or would just like to get outside and make a difference, we appreciate your help! More information on the Adopt-a-Highway program is available at modot.org. This is a great option for groups or families who want to collect litter on a quarterly basis. A roadside sign will be posted to highlight the adopted section. If you would like to help but aren’t ready to formally adopt a highway, MODOT will provide trash bags and safety materials. MoDOT will also pick up and dispose of the bags of collected litter—if you follow up to tell them when and where you picked up! You can reach MODOT at aah-se@modot.mo.gov or 1-888 ASK MODOT (275-6636). Adopt a City Street Looking for a committed project for your nonprofit civic or service organization? Join our Adopt-A-Street Program and help make our City a little cleaner at the same time. www.cityofcape.org/adoptastreet Thank you again to all volunteers!
