City of Cape Girardeau The Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo …
The Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo is this Saturday! In the next few months, Cape Girardeau will experience two solar eclipse events: A partial Solar Eclipse on Saturday, Oct. 14 with maximum coverage at 11:59 a.m. (only safe to view with eclipse glasses) and a total Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8 starting at 12:41 p.m. with totality occurring at 1:58 p.m. Eclipses are extremely rare, so the Missouri Eclipse Task Force is hosting an Expo here in Cape! The evening before the Expo, Friday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m., there will be a panel discussion at the University Center Ballroom (4th Floor), and afterwards there will be a night sky telescope observation by the SEMO Department of Chemistry and Physics. The Expo doors open on Saturday at 10 a.m. along with an outdoor solar telescope viewing at the same time. There will be multiple exciting exhibits, two speaker areas, interactive kids exhibits, and concessions. Tickets are $3.00 at the door, or FREE if you get them online. To get tickets online, see the list of speakers, and more information about this event, visit semoeclipseexpo.org. Special thanks to Southeast Missouri State University and Great American Eclipse for their photos and videos! The Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo is a product of the Missouri Eclipse Taskforce in coordination with Southeast Missouri State University, VisitCape, and Perry County Heritage Tourism.
