All Month: Miniature Library Make and Take - Cape Girardeau Public Library
Make your own miniature library in honor of National Library Week (April 23rd-29th)! Stop by the Information Desk beginning April 1st to pick up a kit to make a miniature library (while supplies last; first come, first served).
Tuesday 4/11: Zonta Club Trivia Night


Tuesdays are for Trivia! Prizes for each round! $10/person to enter

The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Criminal Justice, Social Work and Sociology is hosting Rev. Wheeler Parker, Jr. for a speaking event in regards to the Emmett Till Project. Refreshments will be available.

Come join the boardgame club for nature lovers! This monthly program will begin with a short program highlighting a different nature-themed board game and how it relates to Missouri’s mission to have world class fish, forests, and wildlife. 6:30pm - 9:30pm Free, No registration required
Friday 4/14: Froggy Friday - Cape Nature Center
Join the Center on froggy hikes as we visit the ponds on the property to look and listen for live frogs in action. Presentations at 5:30pm, 6:30pm, and 7:30pm Free, no registration required

Saturday 4/15: American Battlefields Park Day


Local volunteers will participate in American Battlefields Park Day at Fort D in Cape Girardeau, MO, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Park Day is devoted to restoring and maintaining our nation’s battlefields and historic sites. This will be a clean-up day at Fort D. The stone building known as the blockhouse will be open for visitors.
Saturday 4/15: Archery Basics - Cape Nature Center
Try your hand at archery and experience a fun way to enjoy the outdoors. All archery equipment will be provided. This program will take place entirely outdoors so please dress for the weather. 3:00pm Free, Registration Required Register Here!

Thursday 4/20: Free Head and Neck Cancer Screening - Saint Francis Healthcare System
St. Francis Healthcare System will offer free head and neck cancer screenings on April 20. The free head and neck cancer screenings will take place Thursday, April 20, from 1 - 4:30 p.m. at Cape ENT Group, located at St. Francis Medical Center, Entrance 8, Suite 420.
Friday 4/21: Be Your Own Bike Mechanic - Cape Nature Center
Let’s get your bike ready for spring weather! This program will teach you new skills and help you save money by teaching you the essentials of bike maintenance and repair. 6:30pm - 8:30pm Free, Registration required Register Here!
Friday 4/21-22: Moving Perspectives - River Campus


The program will feature original contemporary dance works and physical theatre pieces created and performed by Southeast students. Rust Felxible Theatre 7:30pm $15, $5 for students
Saturday 4/22: Bashin' Trash & Friends of the Park Day Great Cape Cleanup
The nature center is partnering with the Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation Department to clean up Cape LaCroix Creek during their annual Friends of the Park Day. Gather your friends, family, or organization to help bring the beauty back to the creek between Walden Park and Shawnee Sports Complex. We’ll meet at the 4-H Shelter in Arena Park to divide and conquer. Please wear clothes and shoes you can get muddy. Saturday 4/22: A Day in the Park with Green Bear


The Green Bear Project educators welcome you and your family and friends for a day full of family fun at the Cape County Park North! Various vendors will be present with fun activities or experiences at each booth. With a special appearance from Green Bear himself! Free food, drawings, activities, and fun! Saturday 4/22: Geocaching 101 - Cape Nature Center
Did you know there are treasures hiding all around you? Geocaching is a fun pastime in which you follow GPS coordinates to a specific location or box filled with trinkets. Saturday 4/22-23: Mini Figure RPG Painting - Crisp Museum


Are you a RPG gamer? Gary Tyler will introduce how to color an RPG mini figure using acrylic paints. Participants will be given 2 figures. Seating is limited to 8 each day. All supplies are provided. $5, Free for University community Register here!

St. Louis-based new music ensemble Synergy will perform a program of twentieth and twenty-first century music for pianos and percussion. Shuck Recital Hall $15, $5 for students
Tuesday 4/25: Beethoven and Faure
Featuring two powerful compositions; Beethoven’s magnificent Fifth Symphony for full orchestra, followed by Faure’s inspiring Requiem for chorus and orchestra, performed by Southeast’s Symphony, University Choir, Choral Union, and Chamber Choir. Bedell Performance Hall 7:30pm $25, $5 for students

Discover the importance of Missouri reptiles and amphibians and see what it takes to keep our education animals happy and healthy. Watch as we introduce and feed several different reptiles and amphibians. 2pm Free, Registration not Required
Thursday 4/27-29: Picnic - River Campus

Friday 4/28: Birding by Ear: Hearing and Recording Bird Sounds - Cape Nature Center
Join Dr. Mike Taylor from Southeast Missouri State University as he talks about a day birding filled with songs and calls. 7:00pm Free, No registration Required
Saturday 4/29: Birding by Mic: Tools & Techniques - Cape Nature Center
Hike with a mic through the woods to record bird songs and calls. You will need to bring a smartphone; a small number of hand-held recorders will be available for use. You’ll have the opportunity to try out different recorders as well as shotgun and parabolic microphones. 7:00am Free, Registration Required Register Here!
Saturday 4/29: Princess Tea - SoutheastHEALTH
