In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed Proclamation 3537 which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. In years past, thousands of Law Enforcement Officers converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events that honor those that have lost their lives or who have become disabled in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others. This year, the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum will deliver programs virtually to keep current officers safe and healthy, as well as ceremonies to honor those fallen officers whose names have been recently added to the Memorial.
