Today, we're conducting our annual fire pump testing at the Annex at Station 2. Water is critical to fire suppression, and this annual testing makes sure the pumps on our apparatus (fire trucks) are performing as they should. All of the apparatus, including Engine 1, Rescue 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, AP2 (the airport fire truck), Engine 12 (the reserve Engine), and the Platform Ladder, Ladder 4, are being tested. The testing process is conducted by a third-party vendor to ensure accurate and unbiased results. During testing, the pump has to perform at different pressure levels, ensuring that water can be delivered to various hose lines with adequate pressure and volume on a fire scene. The whole process takes about an hour. Learn More
