We take pride in doing our part to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Cape Girardeau through our delivery of fire and emergency services. This year we are facing a new challenge in our community. Unsecured, vacant house fires are on the rise. These houses have potential for illegal activity, such as trespassing and drug use and pose a significant threat in our neighborhoods. We encourage property owners to secure vacant houses to help prevent vacant home fires from occurring; for the safety of our firefighters and you as residents.
